Joy and Joyce are related. Ingrid and Joyce are not. But they are connected:

By their approach to life with joy as a principle of mastering it.
By knowing challenging times and how one must manage one’s mind to overcome them.
By having 2 younger relatives who believe it’s a fabulous idea to bring them both together.

Joyce is Kieron’s grandmother, 80 years old Ingrid is Antje’s aunt, 92 years old.

LIFE OF JOY is an intergenerational project, in which Joyce and Ingrid, who grew up on different continents, but seem to have parallels in their lives, are in the center of this work. Both have not met yet in person, but are connected in their approach to life: through positivity especially because they know its endangering sides. Both have also experienced inequality by being female born and Joyce has lived more than 50% of her life under Apartheid rule. They've been surviving moments, where death was close. Now being old and naturally moving closer towards death, both still have a striking joy of life, which through documentary means, storytelling, and reflections on female perspectives becomes a performance, in which their energy is tangible for an audience and where they meet each other.
